How to make a starting soon screen in OBS
The starting soon screen holds the air while you get ready and your viewers arrive. It is a scene of its own, used only before the stream.
- 01
Create a dedicated scene
In the Scenes panel, click the plus and name it “Starting soon”. Keep it separate from your game scenes.
- 02
Set the background
For a looping video, add a Media source (“Media Source” before OBS 32.2), tick “Local File”, pick your video and tick “Loop”. Also tick “Restart playback when source becomes active”. For an animated page, add a Browser source with its address instead, at 1920 by 1080.
- 03
Add the countdown
Create a browser source with the countdown address and lay it over the background. The guide “A “stream starting” countdown for OBS” explains how to get it.
- 04
Add your title
Add a Text source or your logo: channel name, today's game, your socials. Keep it readable from a distance.
- 05
Add music
Add a Media source with a track on loop and lower its volume in the mixer so your voice comes through. Pick music you have the rights to, or your replays may run into trouble.
- 06
Switch to the game
Start the stream on this scene, and at the announced time move to your game scene with a transition or a stinger.
