How to add Twitch alerts to OBS Studio
OBS Studio does not show alerts by itself. A service such as Streamlabs gives you a web address that receives your Twitch channel's events (follow, subscription, raid): OBS shows it with a browser source.
- 01
Link your service to Twitch
Open the account of the alert service you use (Streamlabs, StreamElements or another one) and connect it to your Twitch channel.
- 02
Copy the widget address
In the dashboard, open the Alert Box (or its equivalent) and copy the widget address. On Streamlabs, it is the “Click To Copy the Widget URL” field at the top of the settings page. It is personal: do not show it on screen and do not share it.
- 03
Create a browser source
In OBS, in the Sources panel, click the plus and choose Browser. Name it “Alerts” and paste the address into the URL field.
- 04
Set the size
Set the width to 1920 and the height to 1080 so the alert can appear anywhere in the scene. The background is transparent.
- 05
Route the sound through OBS
Tick “Control audio via OBS” in the source properties. The alert sound then appears in the audio mixer, where you set its volume. To hear it yourself, open “Advanced Audio Properties” and, in the “Audio Monitoring” column, pick the option that both monitors and sends the sound to the stream: “Monitor and Output” up to OBS 32.0, “Monitoring Enabled” in OBS 32.2.
- 06
Place the source and test
Put it above your game capture and your webcam, then send a fake alert with the service's test button. Check both the image and the sound.
